Summer 23.24 Finals and U8’s Rounds 16 & 17

Finals Qualifications:
To qualify to play in the final’s series, a player must play 5 games fixtured with that team and must be registered in PlayHQ by no later than 02/02/2024. A bye is NOT counted as a qualifying game, a receiving forfeit IS counted towards eligibility and a forfeit given is NOT counted as eligibility, grading matches are counted towards eligibility.

Finals Structures:
All U10 and above competitions will have Semi Finals played between 1st vs 4th and 2nd vs 3rd (Finals Week 1)
U10 and U12 competitions will have Grand Final and Bronze Medal matches (Finals Week 2)
U14 and above competitions will only have Grand Final matches (Finals Week 2)
Each team will be required to provide a scorer for all finals matches. Grand Finals will have a referee appointed to the score bench to assist team scorers.

Finals Timing Rules:
2 × 18min Halves
Time outs – during finals there will be 2 timeouts per half for each team for all age group
competitions.
Game timing – during finals the following game timings shall apply.
The clock will stop for the following:
(i) All time outs.
(ii) All whistles in the last 1 minute of the 1st half
(iii) All whistles in the last 3 minutes of the 2nd half and overtime

Overtime:
3min extra period, in the event the game is still tied when the siren sounds at the end of the overtime period, play will continue in a golden point style to determine the winner.
Teams play to the same basket as 2nd half
Both Team and Player fouls remain
1 timeout per team (timeouts do not carry over)

Finals Fixtures:
All finals fixtures are now available online, please note these are subject to change.

U8’s Competition:
U8 Teams will play regular season games during the two finals round, these fixtures are now available.

Winter 24 Registrations:

Existing Independent Teams:
Registrations are now open! Team Contacts have been sent all relevant information and the registrations link today. Ensure you get in fast before our competitions hit capacity.

New Independent Teams:
New Independent Team registrations will open next Friday 8th of March 2024.

Capacity Limits and Waiting Lists:
Our competitions this past season has run at capacity again. Team Registrations will close on Thursday 28th of March but some competitions will close early due to reaching capacity. If an age group does reach capacity, unfortunately it will not automatically close the registration. In the event your team registers after we have hit our capacity you will be contacted directly by MDBA staff and placed on a waiting list.
